First Day

The first day is usually the hardest day of the trip. You need to get your “groove on.” You have to learn to sit on a bike for at least eight hours of driving and try to get as comfortable as you can. It takes me a couple days to get comfy. The first day is the day you break in all your muscles and learn to calm your mind and body.

We fortunately had an uneventful day. Emory is turning in to a “real biker.” He drove through sun, clouds, rain, and chilly weather and didn’t mind it a bit. I guess all those trips to Florida, the Carolinas, and Seattle were his practice runs. He is good to go and a little rain didn’t scare him a bit. In fact he was the one who decided that the rain wouldn’t last, that it was clear up ahead and it wasn’t worth putting on the raincoats. He was correct. The rainy mist cleared up just fine and we didn’t have to put on those annoying raincoats. However, all the other riders had their rain gear on and didn’t even need it. Nice going Emory…
